In response to a question about how to get better requirements specifications from users on SlashDot (and the poster in question got rightly slammed for the nature of his little whine), a 20 step program was suggested:

Become an analyst and hire programmers

Well, it made me giggle :-)

Yup, saw that in an idle moment today, and I was amused too (both by that comment, and the original question). Also amused because my previous workplace was working its way through CMM - levels 2/3 while I was there, starting on 4/5 when I left. The poster has got a lot to learn ...

That is both horrifyingly accurate and hysterically funny.

It's also worse when you're dealing with a training manual that's been written like that and your job is to 'simplify' it. *bangs head on desk*

Speaking as the heir-apparent to the UI design crown of lah-di-dah-ness... it's scary isn't it. No matter where you work, these things apply. And now I'm trying to think of who I can send that link on to without them getting all pissy about it :-).

Right, back to training. Will reply to your other email as soon as I get out!
