At least it's only a day until Peg 2
Feb. 1st, 2007 10:05 amToday I am mostly...trying to do all the things I tried to do yesterday when the data warehouse fell over *sigh* I'm not going anywhere fast, although I don't have to redo the things that got stuck yesterday which should help. I also have many, many meetings with colleagues to go through handover things because I will be out of the office for the next four days.
Wooo!
Today is another walking stick day, so it looks like I'll definitely be walking stick girl at Peg 2. Darn. At least I'm staying at the Sheraton where they have lifts and can register as disabled so I don't have to do too many of the Things That Really Hurt.
Sadly, our cat is being ill :-( He had an emergency trip to the vet last night because he hadn't eaten since Monday and kept being sick. The vet thinks that the stuff she prescribed for his overactive thyroid a couple of weeks ago was too high a dose so it's pushed him the other way. He just thinks he's miserable and why aren't we making him better? The vet gave him something to settle his stomach, but he still hadn't eaten this morning and he was sick again in the night. He also had an accident yesterday evening so we've given him a litter tray, just in case. We're also keeping him in the back room (don't much care about the carpets there) so that his range of destruction is reduced. If he doesn't start eating today, though, he'll have to go back to the vet and she will want to put him on a drip. Poor baby.
We're now trying to decide how much of this we want to put him through considering he's fifteen years old. He's been telling us voluably about how miserable he is right now, although that is a slight improvement from the constant sleeping before he saw the vet last night. We're not sure, though, how ill he's feeling and whether we're doing the right thing.
Looks like I'll have something to worry about while I'm away :-(
It meant that I only caught the last half of last night's Atlantis, The Tao of Rodney. I thoroughly enjoyed what I saw (poor woobie) and will have to leave a video set up for the repeat while I'm at Peg 2 so that I can get the full glory. I do see why everyone was squeeing about it :-)

Snap!
Boris is on a drip over at the vets in Woodstock (same vets group as in my village), this morning the vet said another two or three days so he won't be home before I leave for P2 :(

Date: 2007-02-01 08:40 pm (UTC)Poor Boris! You must be worried {{{hugs}}} Hope he's going to be OK.
Skipper has an appointment with the vet tomorrow. He's looking a little perkier, but he only ate a little bit of food during the day and brought it all back again just after I got home. He's eaten a little bit of chicken for supper and so far it's stayed down, but I'm not holding my breath. At the moment he's curled up asleep. I think he's still pretty miserable.
Even if he picks up, Mum's still taking him to the vet tomorrow because this is getting worrying. She's spoken to my sister so if the vet can't do anything, at least Sis is now prepared for the possibility (Skipper is technically Sis's cat). I'll have to call for updates over the weekend.

Date: 2007-02-02 12:02 am (UTC)The latest from the vets is an enlarged kidney and they wanted permission to do more tests this evening but we won't know more until Dad phones them tomorrow morning. At least they didn't phone again this evening with very bad news. We're bracing ourselves for the recommendation to have him put to sleep and just hoping that it doesn't come to that so soon.
