Silly graphics
Aug. 19th, 2004 06:08 pmToday I decided that I needed to buy a folder to store a big document for my research project so that I didn't have to keep flicking through the ringbinder I have all the crap I'm not going to use stored in. I've got a filing system for the research project: one lever-arch file for the stuff I've done and the stuff that's useful (complete with file seperators and indexes and stuff) and another file for the crap. Unfortunately, one document has been sitting in the crap file for three months and I actually refer to it. Problem is that the crap file is stuffed (making it difficult to flick through without breaking) and the useful file will be stuffed if I add the document. Simple resolution is to buy a new file, you'd think. So I did. But I didn't want a black one because my crap file is black and I'd be forever picking the wrong one off the bookcase and all the pretty files were more expensive of course.
Trust Mom to find the solution. "Why don't you make some Stargate pictures to go on the front and spine as labels?"
My *mother* suggested that I make Stargate pictures for my indexing. The same mother who sighs when I record episodes or go to cons. Being a geek, that's what I did, though :-)

Hooking up my lovely graphical tablet also kick-started me into making inroads on the map for Mage Murders so that I can work out where the heck everyone is from. Yes, I'm a little anal when I'm writing.
Amazingly, I have even done a ton of reading for the research project. Not thrilling, but threads, sockets and input/output are kind of important for the project and life will be smoother when I've got a better understanding. I am such a nerd :-)
