That interview thingy
Jun. 23rd, 2006 06:17 pmNo phone call today so I was fully expecting to find an email when I got home with a politely worded rejection for the job that I really want.
No email, either.
This either means that they haven't made a decision yet or they haven't got around to rejecting me yet. Hmmm. Personally, I feel that it's now looking less likely that I'll get the job and more likely that I'll get a rejection. It's partially a defensive mechanism, but also experience - both this year and last year, the companies that offered me jobs got back to me within a day. The ones who didn't took much longer to reject me. Granted most of these were through agencies, but the few direct applications that I found last year took up to a month to reject me so I'm not holding out hope.
Plus I think they were looking for someone who could come in quickly and the longer they wait to offer a job, the longer they'll have to wait for that person to start if they have a standard notice period. So I probably didn't get it :-( Still, there will be other jobs and I'm sure to find something that I really want with a company who really wants me.
Thank you for all the good wishes and hopefully I'll have some better news soon :-) I am now going out for drinkies with a friend to commiserate!

Date: 2006-06-23 06:41 pm (UTC)Having said that, the company that took a month to reject me last year said that I'd know at the end of the week after interviewing on a Monday. So I'm not sure.
I'm mostly trying to dampen my hopes so that I won't be completely gutted when they officially reject me :-)

Date: 2006-06-24 02:03 pm (UTC)I just received the official rejection letter through the post, though, so at least now I know. And I can get my mind off that one and start focusing on the other things that I have out there. Something will definitely turn up eventually.

Date: 2006-06-24 02:04 pm (UTC)It's sometimes hard to believe that I'll find anything, but something has to turn up so I'm going to keep plugging away.
