Grrr arrrgh
Jun. 19th, 2006 08:24 amI have been at work for twenty minutes and I'm ready to walk out
already. For once, the IT systems haven't gone down for the morning.
Nope, instead the director of the department has decided to pull apart
one of the reports that I need to run, re-work the way it gets data
from our datawarehouse and leave me to re-do the reporting interface
so that I can waste half my morning. Yay.
The most annoying part? His critisism was that the report took to long
to run and his re-worked version is lightening quick. What he's failed
to notice is that it's lightening quick because it no longer has the
reporting interface on. That's the part that takes time to copy out
and the SQL that he's re-done for me was the fastest part of the
report. Grrrr!!! Putting the report back onto his redesigned thing
will make it just as slow as it was before he tampered.
So tempting to just hand in that resignation letter and walk out right
now *sigh*
