Went for an interview today that went surprisingly well. Still not rating my chances, but it was a lot better than I expected. The people seemed OK and the company is doing good work.
Except the agency this one is through hasn't been entirely transparent about a few things. I stated that the big reason for leaving my current position is the extended commute - it turns out that this job is just as far away. When the agency discussed it with me, they quite cheerfully led me to believe it was in one place when in fact it isn't. Woo! And the train station they told me it was near, as a marker for whether it's a distance that I'd be happy with, wasn't the train station they told me it was. Hmmm.
I told the agency how things went and they seem to be under the impression that the company will be making a decision tomorrow when the interviewer told me it wouldn't be for a couple of days. The agency is also pushing me to make a decision on the spot tomorrow about whether I want the position.
I believe this is because the agency were misleading about being the only agency working on this position and they want to make sure of their commission whether it's the right role for me or not. I've seen this position advertised with at least one other agency this weekend.
And I've finally got a telephone interview tomorrow with a company that I already really, really want a job with. So even if I'm offered today's position, I'd prefer to wait a couple of days for the feedback on this telephone interview because it's a role that I'd much prefer if I can get it.
And they wonder why I hate job hunting :-(
The round-trip for today's interview and the day at normal work was 130 miles. I'm now going to veg out and watch West Wing because I'm totally knackered.
