Hello there! Just came here via your HP (you have awesome works there). I hope you don't mind if I add you to my f-list. If you do, drop me a line and I'll defriend.
I absolutely don't mind if you friend me :-) And thanks for the compliment - both about my stuff and thinking that I'd be interesting enough to friend :-)
From the icon and your LJ, I'm guessing that you're a J/D follower. Are you a new convert? Or an old hand who's just getting the LJ bug?
Yep, definitely J/D here (but only the good stuff, you can really scare me with some of the fics out there). It's what I started with and will ramain faithful to. ;-). I've been reading and writing (but not posting) for about a year now and as for LJ, yeah, I fell for it. Let's say this is my 'outing phase'.
Yup, there is some scarily bad stuff out there. I think all fandoms attract a certain amount of crap, but J/D seems to attract the terrifying end of the crap. Good stuff is increasinly rare, but a really good thing when you find it.
I resisted LJ for years, but I've really enjoyed it ever since I gave in. Hope you find it as fun as I have :-)
Hope so, too. I like it so far. I was a bit wary of it at first as well but I really enjoy getting in touch with folks who have the same interest as I do. I guess (or, sadly, in most cases know) people around me are simply not open-minded enough to understand stuff about homosexuality and slash. Well. Sad but true.
That's one of the fun things about LJ - making contact with new people who share some of your interests. I've met up with friends made through LJ and mailing lists at cons and gatherings and found them to be some of the funniest, most open-minded people around. Quite a contrast to many of the people I meet through my RL stuff!
