Bad day at the office...
Apr. 3rd, 2006 09:51 amI'm here and it's Monday morning. Of course, because I want to get through a good chunk of work before my back gives out, our systems are having some major issues and causing massive delays. Hmmm. The main culprit is the data warehouse, which keeps disconnecting us at random intervals preventing our reports running. We then have to start the report all over again from the beginning. Only to get disconnected yet again.
Grrrr.
End result is that, despite being in at 7.30am, I'm actually behind on where I'd usually be at this time on a Monday. Looks like my hopes of getting out early are destined to be foiled. Why can't my company make it easy for us to work from home?
In other news, crippled Da is slowly coming around to the idea that his broken ankle may need more than a week to heal. Poor petal. He was very happy with all the steam train footage that Mom and I managed to garner.
And I'm thoroughly enjoying
naominovik's Temeraire. The only slight issue is that it's a hardback so I can't cart it into work with me. My lunchtime reading is instead a thoroughly pulpy looking fantasy that I bought during this weekend's bookshop raid. Not that I'll probably have time for lunch today, but it will be a good, distracting read if I do get ten minutes :-)
Grrrr.
