The Fandom Newsletter Index has been updated with two newsletters for Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist (both anime/manga fandoms) thanks to their editors alerting me.

As always, if you know of any newsletters that I have not listed, drop me a comment or fill in the feedback form on my site and I will endeavour to add them to the index as soon as possible.

Feel free to forward this announcement/link to wherever you think would benefit.

I am going to bed due to extreme exhaustion. I am working from home tomorrow morning then I have my rheumatology appointment. If I haven't completely collapsed after that, I may play Internets tomorrow afternoon. Far more likely, I will spend the afternoon in bed watching Days of Our Lives.

The Fandom Newsletter Index has been updated with 3 shiny new newsletters for Sarah Jane Smith (Doctor Who), Harry Potter and Stargate Atlantis. Take a look if you're interested in any of those fandoms.

And for SJS fans, don't forget to set up your videos for the Sarah Jane Adventures tomorrow afternoon. Curse the BBC for not going a grown-up friendly repeat on Sunday tea-times :-( Still, it should be fun!

ETA: Make that 4 new newsletters - spotted a Transformers newsletter when browsing through referrers to my site!

First, the reviews. There are 8 new reviews up at Haven Reviews in a mixture of slash, gen and het for the following fandoms:

Doctor Who: 3
Harry Potter: 2
Babylon 5: 1
Stargate: 1
Stargate Atlantis: 1

They are all shiny and great and we have a guest reviewer this month, too. A couple of the Harry Potter fics are set post-DH, but they are marked and I've tried not to put any spoilers into the review. However, it's a read at your own risk scenario for them. I have warned you all.

Secondly, the newsletters.

There are two three new newsletters on the Fandom Newsletter Index courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42 and Google. Two of them are available on InsaneJournal. In fact, one of them is just for Harry Potter news on InsaneJournal. The other is LJ based and has a mirror on IJ. Feel free to pimp the link and the info around anywhere that you think would appreciated the knowledge. Also, if anyone out there knows of newsletters on IJ, GreatestJournal or JournalFen then I'd love to know about them to add them to the index.

I think that's it for now.

I've had these sitting around for a few weeks now, so I apologise. However, tonight I have got off my butt and several new reviews have gone live on Haven Reviews:

Doctor Who: 6
House: 1
Torchwood, Vorkosigan Universe (cross-over): 1

As always, feel free to pimp and cross-post this announcement to anywhere that you think would be interested. I'm also always eager to get reviews from guest reviewers, particularly those who frequent fandoms that I haven't invaded found yet.

At last, The Haven has been reorganised and I can now post this!

Title: Five Lives Winifred Bambera Might Have Lived
Author: Selenay (selenay936)
Fandom: Doctor Who
Paring: N/A
Characters: Winifred Bambera, Sarah Jane Smith, Seventh Doctor, Ace
Rating: PG
Summary: There are billions of alternate universes out there, each created by a choice, some closer to our universe than others. It could be a tiny change, it could change an entire life.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who and its characters are the property of the BBC. I do not own the characters and indeed am only playing with them for a little while. I am not making any money from this. No copyright infringement whatsoever is intended. The story is for entertainment purposes only. Please check with me first if you want to archive this story.

You have choices in where you read it:

The Haven: Five Lives Winifred Bambera Might Have Lived

A Teaspoon And An Open Mind: Five Lives Winifred Bambera Might Have Lived

All feedback more than welcome :-)

The Haven has been reorganised so that there is now a general fiction index leading to all the fandom sub-indexes. Don't worry about your bookmarks - I haven't changed the URLs for anything.

The Fandom Newsletter Index has been updated with a newsletter for the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic fandom.

Feel free to pimp this information wherever you think it would do some good :-) As always, if you have a newsletter that you'd like to add, either leave me a comment or pop over to my site and drop me an email - I'm always more than pleased to hear about more newsletters. It's turning into rather a comprehensive list!
selenay: (Ancient City)
There has been an update of 12 new fanfic reviews at Haven Reviews today:

Stargate Atlantis: 6
Doctor Who: 3
Harry Potter: 2
House: 1

There are a couple of long series, a couple of novels and some shorter fics, a mixture of serious and funny, in a variety of gen, het and slash combos. So hopefully something for everyone in this little update :-)

Enjoy the fics! They're all fabulous.
selenay: (Ancient City)
Inspired by my previous post, I have dug out a Chalet School newsletter and added it to the Newsletter Index.

As always, if you have a newsletter that you'd like added to the Index (and I know that the Index is now fairly widely-read and linked to, making it a great place to advertise) please drop me a line though comments or emails and feel free to pass the link around to wherever you think would appreciate it.
selenay: (Ancient City)
Eight new fanfic reviews have been uploaded today at Haven Reviews:

Doctor Who: 5
Bend It Like Beckham: 1
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: 1
Stargate Atlantis: 1

They're a mixture of gen, slash and femslash, shorties and longer fics, so there is probably something in there to please everyone.

Feel free to cross-post this announcement wherever you think would appreciate it.

I'm always on the look-out for new reviewers to add to our haul, so if people are reading fic and thinking it's great, why not pop by and fill out our form?

Quick note for reviewers: if you have to link to an LJ post for a fic, could you give the title of the page as "lj_name: Fic Name"? Makes it much easier for me to sort out the validation! Thank you :-)
selenay: (Ancient City)
It's been far too long since I updated The Haven, but I've finally got around to adding the two newsletters I've been sent to the Newsletter Index. This time, we have a Criminal Minds newsletter and a letter dedicated to the women of Stargate Atlantis.

As always, if anyone has spotted newsletters I haven't found or wants to list a shiny new newsletter, comment here or drop me an email using my feedback form and it will get added. Feel free to circulate the post and the link where ever you think may appreciate it.

And out of curiosity - anyone know of an L-Word newsletter?
selenay: (Ancient City)
Thanks to eagle eyes from [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42, there another newsletter has been added to the Newsletter Index.

As always, if you have any newsletters to add drop me a comment or email me with the details.

That's right, I've finished my first fic for ten months and it's a short Teyla/Weir thing. Not connected to any series I've been writing and written to push myself out of the writer's block I've been having on fanfic.

Title: A Very Athosian Courtship
Rating: PG
Pairing: Teyla/Weir
Summary: "I thought you might be uncertain about my preferences and you did not wish to offend me," Teyla said. "I'm not offended."

A Very Athosian Courtship

I have two new newsletters in the Newsletters Index - a Pansy Parkinson (Harry Potter) and a Bones one.

It is also possible (well, very likely in fact because I'm at the proof reading stage) that there will be fic in the next couple of days :-)
selenay: (Ancient City)
The Newsletter Index has a new weekly Sports Night site listed for fans of the show.

Haven Reviews has also been updated with 11 new reviews:

Doctor Who 3
Torchwood 3
Doctor Who, Torchwood (cross-over) 1
Firefly, Discworld (cross-over) 1
Malory Towers, Chalet School (cross-over) 1
Stargate, Stargate Atlantis (cross-over) 1
The Avengers 1

Quite a mixed bag, I think you'll agree!

This update takes Haven Reviews over the 400 fics reviewed mark for the first time. If I could work out how to use glittery text, this post would be very sparkly. Instead I just need to give a big woo! to all the reviewers who have contributed and the users who visit the site and read fics there - the site would be entirely pointless without you all.
selenay: (Ancient City)
Thanks to user submissions and my f-list, there are 5 additions to the Newsletter Index. These cover the Dexter, Good Omens and pop fandoms. There is also a new general vidding newsletter (aimed towards consumers more than makers this time) and a newsletter for original slash.

If anyone has new newsletters to announce on the index, you can let me know through comments on this post or by filling out the feedback form on my site.
selenay: (Ancient City)
The fix to make sure that Haven Reviews will work in all versions of Firefox (and Opera, IE6 etc.) has now been put in place. Sorry again for not spotting this little problem.

If anyone experiences any problems over the next couple of days, please let me know (page location would be useful) so that I can check it out. I've tried to bug test it as thoroughly as possible, but it's impossible to predict what users might do to produce unexpected results!

While I was doing this fix, I also added a couple of tweaks. The main one was to discourage bots from spamming the review form and it doesn't seem to have caused any problems that I can spot.

The other one was a little addition for registered reviewers: when you click for a list of all your previous reviews it will now tell you if each review has been validated. If it has then you can read the review. If it hasn't then, instead of the blank review you used to get, you can now email me to query the review - useful if I haven't had time to validate things for a couple of weeks and you want to know when your review is going up. Hopefully that will be a useful little tweak :-)

I am now working on the update to the Newsletter Index. Busy day!
selenay: (doctor who)
As an early Christmas present, Haven Reviews has an update that I hope will make Doctor Who and Torchwood fans happy: 13 new reviews!

Doctor Who 10
Torchwood 3

There's a mixture of gen, het and slash so hopefully there's something there to appeal to everyone.

This also brings the count of Doctor Who fics up to 26 so it now has its own space on the front page of Haven Reviews. To make it easier for reviewers, Doctor Who now also has its own clicky button on the review submission form.

It's going to be a very Doctor Who Christmas.

Hope everyone enjoys The Runaway Bride tomorrow and I look forward to seeing the reactions :-)
selenay: (Ancient City)
I know that there are a few Sentinel fans on my flist, so you may be interested to know that I now have a weekly Sentinel newsletter listed in the Newsletter Index.

Feel free to pass on the link anywhere that might be interested. I have absolutely no idea how many newsletters the index now contains :-) Must count them at some stage...

I can promise that there will be at least 9 Doctor Who and Torchwood fanfic reviews going up on the site next week, just in time for people to do a bit of reading over the holidays. That will take the archive close to the 400 reviews mark and also put Doctor Who very close to the magic 25 reviews that will get the fandom its own section on the front page.
selenay: (Fierce Torchwood)
The Haven has been updated with 10 new fanfic reviews:

Fandom Reviews
Torchwood 5
Doctor Who 2
Stargate Atlantis 2
House 1

The full fanfic review archive can be found here. Feel free to pimp this around anywhere that may be interested.
selenay: (Fierce Torchwood)
The Newsletter Index has been updated with five newsletters. Possibly of most significance to many on my f-list is the fact that there is now an active (updated every day) newsletter for the Torchwood fandom!

As always, feel free to pimp this around anywhere that might find it interesting and if anyone knows of newsletters that I haven't included, drop me a line with the LJ user name and I'll get it added.
