Just shoot me now
Feb. 9th, 2006 11:12 amI came into work this morning feeling happy and determined to stay that way. I enjoyed last night's Atlantis and got half way through the first story in
rageprufrock's Valentine series, which was great fun. I had a good night's sleep and though I dreamed about a work-related project, it was in the nature of John Sheppard mocking the wrongness of the results of the project which seemed strangely fun, somehow, so I woke up feeling pretty happy and rested even though I didn't get to bed until 11.30pm.
I am now gritting my teeth. I *will* be happy and unstressed today. I will.
I've spent around three hours working on a project, feeling that the numbers were wrong somehow but not quite able to put my finger on why. And I've just discovered that it's because someone set up the automated tracker with stupid variables and I didn't spot it because I rarely use automated tools. So I trusted that it was all set up properly, hit the button and have been working through the results all morning.
And now I have to re-do everything. The most annoying part? Now that it's set up properly, the damn tracker is falling over (lack of spool space on the data warehouse, apparently) every time I run it. So I'm having to bring back sections of data seperately just to get it to run, which will take five times as long.
But I will remain cheerful and happy. Because my project schedule is being stuffed up, but I have a good reason for it today.
