Watching cycling in London is a lot of fun, but very hot, sticky and ickily dirty. Bleh. Hopefully we'll get the promised thunderstorms tonight.
Final stage of the Tour of Britain today and I took my lovely father to watch. Much fun was had - the amateur race was just as exciting as the professional race. We had a good spot, just next to the 100m marker, which meant that it was loud (very effective tannoy system *g*) but we could follow what was happening on the rest of the course and cheer the riders towards the line. My spot last year was probably better for seeing the signing in and presentation of jerseys (we were too far away to see that), but we had a little more shade this time and the factor 50 sunblock means that I'm not too burnt. Really the only bad thing was that the cars and bikes were kicking up a lot of grit each time they went past, most of which landed on me. So showers all round when we got home - am waiting for Da to have his shower and then we are ordering in pizza.
So, cycling and junk food in one day - how cool is that?
Did a ton of work on the PHP/MySQL learning thing yesterday - forms now come equipped with validation tools and I'm working on the concept of sessions, which will permit the necessary login functions for the reviews database. So hopefully, the thing should be up and running by the end of this month. Yay!
Then I can focus properly on the writing. After all, Under Green Hills is now buzzing in my head, I've got one Teyla/Weir fic part finished and a couple more ideas in my head plus at some stage I need to dust off Mage Murders and get back to writing it. Somewhere in that plan, I also need to find permenant employment. Hmm.
