That Monday feeling...
Jul. 4th, 2005 10:15 pm*sigh* Work managed to get even more boring today. Nothing to do. Just...make work. Even da boss admitted that it was make work. And tomorrow everyone is out so even less to do.
In many ways, I kinda miss da boss-type who is on holiday. Even though she found some of the most pointless, useless tasks for me, at least it was work. Of course, she'd be driving everyone nuts within five minutes if she were here - witness the insane looks she causes when she's absent and her work starts causing problems - but there would be stuff to do.
Four more job applications today. One rejection. Bleh.
At least I have my lovely cyclists to brighten my day :-) The stage was much more exciting than I'd expected - I have a real soft spot for Erik Dekker. He just keeps ploughing away, being determined. I like riders who take chances and never give up, even when the pack is metres away and there's no way he'll make it to the finish. I was willing him to the finish and slightly disappointed when he got caught with 3KM to go.
My prediction yesterday of a McEwan victory was scuppered by some poor tactical decisions and some rather illegal headbutting. Well, relegated to last is...not at all like coming first. Tom Boonen managed a great sprint, though, I'll give him that. There's a certain amount of shoving, leaning, elbowing and headbutting that goes on in your average sprint and mostly the comissaires turn a blind eye. McEwan just took it a little too far and deserved his relegation today. Better luck tomorrow.
Hey, at least he wasn't throwing water bottles around in dangerous sprints unlike a certain (probably now retired) Belgian that I could name. McEwen would never take it that far.
Team time trial tomorrow. I'm not going to call it - Discovery are the reigning champions but CSC are damned good and have the maillot jaune as a carrot. It will be one of those two, though, I have no doubt. The major question is how T-Mobile (and ergo Ullrich and Vino) will do. That could be...interesting.
Maybe I'll write to cheer myself up a little...
