Housekeeping

I know, it's been over two months since I posted. But I needed to do a bit of housekeeping and I swear that I'm going to try to do better in the future.

You may all point and laugh when I don't post again until June.

I've turned off cross-posting to LJ, thanks to the new shenanigans being done with TOSes in Russian and so forth. I'm not sure what I'll do with my LJ long-term, but I'm glad that I backed it up over here years ago and have only been cross-posting for the last few years.

I've also done a tiny bit of housekeeping on selenayhaven.com. Mostly behind-the-scenes tweaks I've been meaning to do for ages, but I have removed the ability to add new reviews to the review section. Bet everyone forgot that was there! I don't plan to take them down, because it's a good record of what was hot like, ten years ago, but I don't plan to update anything any more. Not even broken links, no.

When I have more time, I may be installed a Wordpress thing on the site to make managing it easier. It's no longer the best source for my fic--that's all on AO3 now--but it would be good to get things a wee bit more up to date. And maybe I could set up a WP blog and cross-post to here.

Anyway, that's it. No huge changes, but if you want to know what I'm up to, the best source is probably selenay.

Hi, I hope you don't mind a random comment - but I wondered if I might friend you? We have several fannish interests and friends in common & we've met before via fic, one way or another. (Don't worry if not, as this is a little out of the blue, I know, but I'm trying to shift myself over to Dreamwidth properly & in need of new fannish friends, and I was interest-searching & saw you and was reminded that I'd wondered about friending you before and then wimped out - as usual, heh.)

Anyway, hi, sorry about the fly-by comment, and I hope you do have more time, for whatever you need it for, hopefully including a post or two!

Hi! Random comments are very welcome and I recognise your name! We have definitely crossed fandom paths a few times over the years - I always love your handle :-) New fannish friends are always great :-D

As you may have noticed, I friended you so now you have no excuse not to friend back. Hooray!

I suppose the latest LJ shenanigans are prompting people to post on their blogs a bit more than normal. At least temporarily. Must try to form the habit again.

Aw, thanks! Yay! I have, as you will see, friended you back (or possibly circled you or added you, but anyway, 'tis done). And, heh, my handle originally came from me wanting a Ruth-related one when I joined a Spooks comm a long time ago, but it's also multi-purpose and rarely already claimed, so I've kept it. (Although, if you shorten it, I prefer being Spook to being Lost!)

Habits are difficult to form and hard to break; tough things, I don't know how monks get on with them.

Clearly, friending was in order! <3 <3 <3 (I do like plenty of the other characters, too, but obv. would watch a whole show about Ruth. Nicola Walker is also great & luckily pretty much does have several whole shows of her own these days, but I still love Ruth the best.) I also checked your Doctor Who tag (in case we were on opposite sides of any of the many Great Divides of that fandom) and you were talking about loving Seven and Ace, and that's sufficient in itself to warrant friending. (I'm an old, too.)

Saaame. If she's in the cast, it's pretty much a seller for me. Sadly, now I live in Canada, it's so hard to get hold of some of those shows :-(

I do not understand how anyone doesn't love Seven and Ace. They're so great! Clearly, those people are wrong and they should feel shame for being so wrong. I mean, Seven isn't always shining obvious pure White Hat good guy in the Five mode, which I understand people being confused by, but a lot of what's great about him is the grey shades, the interesting approach, the way he has plans inside plans and while you know he's going to do what's right, you don't always know what that is. And Ace is just...she gets an arc. She's competent. She can equal the Doctor in some areas, and he sees that potential and he mentors it (sometimes in a tough love kind of way, but it's always with her best interests at heart) and I just love them so much.

Clearly, friending was in order! <3 <3 <3

They were my first Doctor and companion, so it was pretty much love at first sight all round for them, and the show.

Five with Peri and Turlough were my first TARDIS crew (when I was but a wee tot), but Seven and Ace arrived just at the right time to become "my" Doctor and companion.

I'm not actually eure that was a better fate.
