I'm so good
Jun. 18th, 2005 04:54 pmWell, it's two hours before the last episode of Doctor Who (this season, anyway) and I've so far completely avoided spoilers. I have absolutely no idea what will happen and I couldn't be happier. Haven't see a single trailer, haven't read a single spoiler, completely avoided all of it. The BBC helped by putting up a page telling people when trailers would air so that we could avoid them (yay BBC!) and I've been really restrained.
I've also got to thank all the Doctor Who fans out there who have managed not to post any unmarked spoilers. Woo! Not one spoiler that wasn't behind an LJ-cut with a note to tell everyone what it was spoiling. Now that's impressive.
During the run-up to the Buffy season five finale, I was absolutely determined not to see any spoilers. The US saw it a week before the UK and I'd been really good. Suprisingly good. I knew that it was building up for something huge and I wanted to go in fresh, without any preconceptions or ideas about it. I wanted it to surprise me.
And the night before it aired here, someone emailed me and included a description of the huge, massive thing that was happening. Unmarked. No hint that it would be there. I stopped reading when I realised what the email was, but it was already too late. Grrrr.
Maybe I've been aided by Doctor Who airing here first - nobody sent any emails with "OMG did you see when xxxx happened?!!!" in the title and everyone was dutiful about the LJ cuts, but it's been great. I'm going into the episode knowing that, whatever happens, I probably won't expect it because I don't know what's going to happen. Not even a hint. Yay!!
