Apr. 10th, 2013 01:50 pmMy adorable mother has finally been talked into buying herself an iPod Touch. Dad and I have been trying to point out all the wonderful things it will do for her (quick access to email! Easy updating of podcasts! Overdrive! Instant Google access! iMessage) for years and she's never been persuaded.
Wanna know what the killer app for her is?
BBC Radio iPlayer. For when she's in Canada. So she can hook up her iPod to the Bose stereo and listen to the Today Show and Saturday Live.
Ladies and gentlemen, my mother is adorkable. Although I can't say too much - TuneIn Radio is my most-used iPod app (I record the Radio 2 breakfast show to listen to in the car on the way to work) and I've been using the hell out of the iPlayer for live and listen again around the house ever since they made it iOS compatible. My entire family are radio and news junkies and my local radio here just can't compare with what the BBC does.
Been checking out the cinema's website now that the opening date for a few things is getting closer. Iron Man 3 opens the same day as my big Project Doom systest deadline! Woot!
*sigh*
So no possibility of taking a vacation day to sleep off a midnight showing or hitting the first daytime showing. Tickets are on sale already so I may try to book for the Friday evening and then wave tickets if anyone tries to make me stay late due to Project Doom issues.
Annoyingly, almost every movie I want to see this year opens on the Friday that isn't my day off. How consistent is that? Hopefully Star Trek tickets will be available soon so I can get that booked up as well. May is going to be a busy month for cinema-ing because it's unlikely I'll see either of those just the once :-D

But movie season this year ... Oblivion, Iron Man3 (I think that's a week earlier here too), Trek, FF6, After Earth, Man of Steel, World War Z, Monsters University, Dispicable Me 2 and The Woverine and that just until the end of July !! It gets foggier after that but we have Elysium, Kick Ass 2 and Riddick in August.

Date: 2013-04-10 08:50 pm (UTC)The good thing about the IM3 release is that it's in the screen where I can book a seat. I'm not sure whether Trek will be in that screen or if I'll have to queue to make sure of a decent spot.
I think we also get Oblivion a week later than you - not until next week. It's on my "Maybe on my next Friday off" list. I'm definitely heading to Monsters University and The Wolverine as well and later in the year I'm looking at The Mortal Instruments, Catching Fire, Thor 2, and the next Hobbit movie. Pretty sure there are some other things I'm thinking about as well that I haven't marked in my calendar.
