I have reached that stage of summer where I am actually having wild fantasies about the idea of being cold and wearing a sweater and OMG the thought of having a quilt on my bed is...

Well, anyway. Ahem. Let's just say, I'm done with summer and I'm ready for autumn now. So incredibly ready. When I'm complaining about the snow and the ice and the cold in January, remind me about how much I hate August, OK? I've got three months of the year that I honestly dislike: January, February and August. I can usually find some good points about the first two (days spent cuddled with blankets, tea, cats and books are so lovely) but August?

Nope, coming up empty on good things about August. This is because it's been weeks since I last had a decent night's sleep due to the heat in my bedroom. Last night I must have had a vivid hallucination because when I first went in there, I thought it was actually cool.

Nope, it wasn't. OMG, that was not a good night.

I'm going to be posting a fic later today and the only explanation that I can find for its existence is heat-induced dilerium. Possibly egged on by Fahre :-D This is also the explanation for 3k words of Avengers torturing PR managers and I think that fic is only half-done so far.

I've just got one chapter left on Marvel Big Bang. I'm actually going to have that thing done well before the deadline for first drafts which will give me time to do a bit of revision on chapters one to four. They're the ones that I haven't touched for a while and I'm fairly sure they need a lot of revising before I'm letting anyone see them.

In other news, Kate loves taking her medicine. I'm disguising the pills inside pill pockets, which she thinks is the greatest treat ever. To the point where she sits and begs for her 'treat' while I'm getting it ready. She's only got two doses left. Poor thing. She's going to be so disappointed tomorrow evening :-D

I lucked out when the vet had me giving Squeaky Metacam for what was either a slight injury or the onset of actual arthritis a few years ago -- first I learned that it was the burrito procedure that he hated and that just walking up to him, wrapping an arm around him, holding his head for a second and syringing the medication into his mouth was less trouble and trauma for both of us. Then he either figured out it made him stop hurting or else decided he liked the taste and reached the point of A) following me to the bathroom where the bottle was kept when I said to him, "Squeaky, do you need a dose?" and B) happily lapping it from the end of the syringe as I held it out for him and dispensed it. It makes life a lot easier when the pets cooperate with their meds. (Marvin is not a big fan of syringes, but at least doesn't fight too hard with his nightly Metacam dose. The nightly Critical Care feeding is a battle, though, and I think once I've used up this package (which expires in September anyway) I won't buy any more until I have another rabbit digestive crisis. He's doing absolutely great now, but I'm still trying to put as much weight back onto him as possible. Meanwhile, I've found that after battling Marvin to get as much into him as possible, Willow will eagerly lick the mess off my fingers. Good to know the big rabbit likes the stuff, at least.)
