Pizza is always yum, y/y?
Aug. 30th, 2011 04:48 pmNote to self: ordering pizza so that you can finish a book without needing to take time out to cook and stuff is fine. But order it at 6pm when you think about it not at 8pm when you start to get a headache. It won't arrive until 9pm when your headache is awesome and nearly enough to stop you reading.
Why yes, I did read for five hours straight last night to finish The Magicians and Mrs Quent. And now I do have left-over pizza issues.
But it was good and I need to not feel guilty about doing that kind of thing sometimes. Pizza will not kill me, even if it is loaded with fat and sodium! After all, I'm normally a very healthy eater precisely so that I can indulge every now and again.
I should say that it was a very good book, I enjoyed it muchly, although I suspect it's something you have to be the right kind of reader for. The first section was very Jane-Austen-with-hints-of-magic, the middle bit was a cross between Jane Eyre and Turn of the Screw (with magic) and the final section was back to Jane Austen but with much more magic and obvious adventure. I loved it. Many people, I'd imagine, won't. But if that sounds like your kind of thing...
Then I needed a total break from reading so I watched another bit of The Tudors. Which is silly, insane and only bears a passing relationship with actual history. Although I suspect that I now need to read a good biography of Henry VIII to see whether my school lessons left out as much as I think they might have done.
Tonight I'm going to be a grown-up and make the chickpea stuffed zucchini that I should have eaten yesterday. Also, there will be cleaning (Mum gets back tomorrow! Eeep!) and Wii Fit. When I've done all that grown-up stuff, I shall eat cookies and watch Spooks as my reward.
