In which I am annoyed with myself
Jul. 5th, 2011 06:10 pmDear self,
You must eat at least 1,500 calories a day. Closer to 1,700 would be even better, but this persistently not going much over 1,200 calories (before taking into account the exercise I do) is not healthy no matter what the health situation.
Also? You can occasionally have a blow-out and over-do things. It's fine. You're not going to balloon from the odd indulgence even though you're on prednisone.
Lastly, stop being so crazy over fat and sodium. It's fine. You can eat some. In moderation they won't kill you.
No love,
Me
Today has been so slow at work. It seems like half the office is out sick and the rest of us are just grumpy and bitchy about having to be here. Ugh.
Yesterday Mum and I went out for a brisk walk and managed to cover around 4km. Woo! That's further than I could manage a few days ago, so I think the steroids are starting to get my energy levels up a bit. I miss the prednisone energy when I'm off it :-( I hate pred and it's an evil drug, but the energy is nice.
Anyway, the new trail shoes are great and felt really good to walk in. I also invested in a pair of light-weight, breathable, water resistant trousers at the hiking shop and those were also lovely. My jeans are the only things that fit right now (must go shopping, ugh) and they're just too heavy for good brisk walks. It's nice not to be baked alive by my clothing as I walk!
The plan for tonight is another good walk (it's hot out, that may not be fun), clean the bathroom and then lamb stew (the last of a batch from a while ago) for supper followed by watching the Tour. There may also be strawberries and a spot of cream. Don't judge me! I know strawberries have fibre and seeds, but I need some proper fruit!
Finally, I'm loving Heartless by Gail Carriger. It's not just that the stories are entertaining and fun, it's the way that Carriger phrases things to inject a bit of dry humour and ridicule to the goings-on. The books are a bit quirky, very funny and she gives some nice little twists on the formulaic elements of the vampire-werewolf-Victoriana genre.
