I may have reached my limits. Thank god it's Friday and I can sleep in a bit tomorrow.
Today was stressful and annoying. I want to shoot the CEO of the company that I'm temping for. Guess what I was aiming for in archery tonight? No, it wasn't his head. Not the one on his shoulders, anyway. Guh.
The company apparently is interested in keeping me, but they're thinking along the lines of customer facing things and I'd much rather be a techy. It's what I enjoy doing. I'd be ready to throw myself out of a window after two weeks if I had to be a customer liasion or sales type person. I'll see whether anything comes of this. On one hand, they're a good group of people. OTOH, I'm not sure whether I'm the kind of person that will fit there long-term.
The good news is that an agency has put forward my CV for a graduate trainee developer role (Java, C++ and a bit of C - willing to train in any deficient areas). I'll hear from her next week about whether I'm getting an interview. The job would be very local and apparently they have a good graduate scheme and salary. Another agency wants to meet with me on Monday evening to chat and then they've got a couple of jobs that they'd like to put me forward to. This is all good stuff and at least means that I'm starting to get some options. Woo!
And now I must sleep. I'll continue the website redesign plans tomorrow. Technically it seems to work and it's now down to asthetics and ease of use. The fact that the sample worked is rather gratifying, seeing as I'm attempting to pursuade people that I'm a good programmer and can easily handle more complicated things than HTML and CSS.

Date: 2005-01-22 08:30 pm (UTC)I get the part about being behind the scenes rather than out front. I'd much rather be in the back room with all the equipment that doesn't judge, piss me off, or generally make me wish I was the only one left on the planet. *sighs*

Date: 2005-01-23 12:36 pm (UTC)After a week as an HR admin, I'm developing a desperation to be hidden away in a back office, not dealing with external stuff ::sigh:: It's stressful, tiring and they keep dumping stuff on my desk to sort out that I don't want to deal with and wasn't in my job description. Gah. The money is good, but I'm beginning to wonder whether the stress is worth it. Oh, for the boring days of data entry clerking *g*

Date: 2005-01-23 06:37 pm (UTC)And job descriptions? *snort* I'm reminded of the quote in Pirates of the Caribbean about the pirates' Code: "They're more a guideline than actual 'rules.'" Ain't that the truth.
