Dreamwidth, babble, and fanfic, oh my!
Apr. 15th, 2009 10:36 amToday I am working on small changes that seem to require a lot of time to figure out what needs changing in what file and then ten seconds to make the change. I suspect that analysing the issue and testing will take 99% of the time that I log for these tickets.
Still, I'm getting to poke around the system a bit more. And I got a quick look around Oracle Forms. And I was at least able to reassure myself that I don't know C, but I know enough C-languages to be able to vaguely understand what the program is doing and where the heck the SQL is that needs changing. So it's all good.
Dreamwidth discussion is taking over LJ, it seems, and I'm starting to think that I should get myself an account before selenay or selenay936 (prefer the first, the second would have consistency) get taken. If anyone on my f-list has an invite code going spare...
It does sound very shiny and lovely. I'm quite excited about the improvement in 'friend' control etc. and it's good to see that everything from my LJ can be imported (including comments) should I decide to eventually defect. Easy cross-posting would also be great and make migration easier if I decide to go that route, because I'd still want to maintain the LJ and there are a lot of people on my f-list who won't be going to Dreamwidth.
I am with
calapine, though. The DW acronym is not helpful for Doctor Who fans :-)
Suggestions are now being taken for the poll to decide the Big List of fandoms at
femslash09 and Merlin is already on the list - hooray! The world can always use more Gwen/Morgana. As all my main fandoms are already going to be in the poll, I have no good ideas on ones to add :-( Still, if we're doing the suggestions now and the poll in a few weeks and sign-ups a couple of weeks after that...the timing should be good for me to enter because my Big Bang final-final-deadline is June and I really should have the first draft finished by the end of this month so May will be largely editing.
I am no longer entirely confident that Donna the Time Lord will actually be finished for April 26, but I am confident that I'll have 75% complete and it will be more than 15,000 words. Plus I can add in the final few pages to my submission because I know what they're going to say now, which the artists/vidders might be able to use.
I'm very excited about this idea of having a fic illustrated and made pretty, have you guessed?
