Apparently, we finally find out the answer to the biggest question of the last three months - who is the real next Doctor?

My money is still firmly on Patterson Joseph. I will be un-impressed if it's James Nesbitt, David Morissey and John Simm have both had big roles previously and DW doesn't like to recycle their actors and Robert Carlyle has signed up for the next Stargate spin-off. So if it's not PJ, they'll have thrown us one from way out of left field.

Anyone else got names to add before we get the confirmation?

I hope it's Paterson Joseph or (rather less likely) Chiwetel Ejiofor. I've heard Ben Wishaw being bandied about - I'd never heard of him and he seems a bit young, but better him than Nesbitt, who I can't bloody stand, nice as it would be to have someone with my accent on the telly.

Totally not in the running, but I would absolutely adore Derek Jacobi.
We could do with an older doctor again, and he is so, so amazingly good!
And sure, he's been in it briefly as the forgetting Master, but Colin Baker (may we forget he ever existed!) was in it before he was the doctor - he was a guard in one of the Gallifrey ones.

I'm still sulking that David Morrissey's a no-no.

I hope it's either David Threlfall or Jack Davenport. Both are nowhere near the tipsters' lists, but when I look at said tipsters' lists it's just a who's who of everyone who's had more than 2 'hit' series on the BBC in the last 18 months.

By the same token, if it's Nesbitt I will hurl the SOFA at the TV and not just the cushions.

I envisioned him being the James T. Kirk of regenerations, where the companion spends more time trying to keep him out of the alien of the week's undies than anything else. *sigh & pout*

As long as he plays it laid back and more 'Daleks? Oh please... *nukes the lot*' than Tennant's 'Daleks? O_O All weeeeeeeeeeeee are saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaying is giiiiiiiiiive huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumanity a chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaance! ^.^' I think Dav's on ftw.

My OMG!Threlfall's!Brilliant thing goes back to Men of the World (with John Simm!) and Nightingales. I also caught a bit of him in Phantom of the Opera at about the same time (early/mid-90s) - not kidding the man's a chameleon. I seriously believe if anyone wrote a DW story that required all regenerations fed through one - only Threlfall could make it work.

Nesbitt gives me nightmares. I used to watch this daft, brilliant, funny and WONDERFUL programme called 'Murphy's Law'... Then it went the hell in a badfic basket by the third season. I genuinely believe if Nesbitt's appointed Time Lord, halfway through the second season there'll be raped Cybermen, close-ups on Dalek extermiplungers being broken during interrogation and he'll spend most of his time with the TARDIS lighting set to 'moody' and doing shotglasses of Typhoo between smoking crack with his sonic screwdriver.

Oh I AM a drama queen - Nesbitt? Count me out.

No idea who it is, although the thought of Jack Davenport as the Doctor does make me feel rather goofily happy, but I'm sure I heard James Nesbitt on Desert Island Discs just before Christmas saying he wasn't interested in the part as he didn't think he'd ever be able to replace David Tennant.
