The second episode is still on my Sky box because I haven't had time to watch it yet and this is only going to be short.
Ashes to Ashes is very different from Life on Mars and I loved every second of it.
The best aspect of it had to be Gene Hunt. The producers/writers/everyone obviously have a very bad case of Gene-love. The way they filmed his entrance and, in fact, every moment that he was on screen was over the top and just wonderful.
Is that perhaps because this time it's the 80s and everything was OTT?
I'd fallen for Alex by around half way through: she's a fabulous character that I'm really looking forward to knowing more about.
I have lots of thoughts about her version of the LoM world, the differences and the similarities, because I think it tells us a lot about LoM. It's also telling us a lot about Alex and, in an odd sort of way, about Sam.
However, I don't currently have enough time to write the four page essay lurking in my head. Maybe I'll write it up on flashcards for use at Orbital :-)
My main reaction was that I love it already, it was funny and intriguing and all good stuff, and it's got potential to be a thoroughly brilliant series.
