Very small, non-spoilerish VotD thoughts

There seems to be some fairly mixed reactions to VotD. Which is to say that some people loved it, some people hated it and some people were very 'meh' about it, but that the hated it crew are the loudest out there.

Thing is, I remember exactly the same kind of mixture last year about The Runaway Bride and after a couple of months of thought and discussion people had changed to praising it as a great episode. I'm thinking that the settling in period for VotD will be the same. Not every episode can be a Blink or The Doctor Dances and adored from the moment it's broadcast, but that doesn't mean people don't find things to adore about them after some time and re-watching.

Hopefully VotD will go the same way because I genuinely enjoyed it a lot. It's no Blink, but neither is it a...er...struggling to think of a really *bad* New Who episode. Hmmm. I have it: it's definitely not the first half of Torchwood S1. It's much, much better than that.

In other thoughts, I'm hopefully seeing The Golden Compass tonight and Mum might kill me if I don't appear for lunch *right now*.
