Never work at the head office of a major retailer in the lead up to Christmas. It's insane! Yarg!
If only I had Ace's baseball bat and a Dalek or two to beat up *sigh*
Am taking more chocolate to work tomorrow because I ran out today. *That's* how bad it is. I am looking forward to Christmas for all the wrong reasons...
Although there was a brief laughter moment when I spotted that a store had mucked up their ordering system so badly (due to Christmas panic, I'm sure) that they were forecasting sales and orders on party food that would have kept the entire company well stocked for days. Heh. Methinks someone is getting yelled at and sent on training courses for that one.
The party food won't actually arrive because we managed to stop most of it happening. Shame, really, because a truck-load of Chinese starters is exactly what I'm in the mood for right now...

Date: 2007-12-10 10:27 pm (UTC)We only had a small store room and from about late October onwards it was only used for the expensive stuff and literally stacked floor to ceiling, front to back. The only way to get at anything not right at the front was to climb on top and squeeze between the top boxes and the ceiling. I think we'd heard about health and safety but held no truck with it. Also, I was fit and slim so a *very* long time ago. :-)

Date: 2007-12-12 09:04 pm (UTC)*g* I can actually really believe that. The aim, apparently, is to ensure that people can actually move around in the back room in stores. And then stores do stupid things like order enough fresh pizzas to fill the entire store, floor to ceiling, five times over.
I still don't think that retail companies believe in health and safety, unless you're the worker attempting some dangerous procedure who gets seriously injured when five cartons of baked beans land on you.
