Holiday: Day Five

I am having a lovely holiday and I am about to go to the pub with a friend :-) I'm even getting used to this whole not working thing. I slipped a little yesterday and emailed a colleague about a report that I'd forgotten to provide instructions for (they'd already figured it out because I have "such a logical directory naming scheme"). I was told to go back to my holiday :-)

I had physio today, pottered around in a local market town yesterday and have generally enjoyed relaxing and being lazy. Which isn't to say that I've done no work for lo, I have been writing.

Sensible Man just officially reached the same length as Mage Murders. As I've been working on Sensible Man for around four months and I'd been working on Mage Murders for over a year and I haven't run out of steam on it yet (indeed I'm just picking up steam because I'm at a fun bit) I'm thinking that it's now apparent that MM didn't work because it just wasn't the story that I wanted to write. Sensible is fun and exiting and a joy to write: it just flows.

So yes. Writing. Yay.

I also have been creating icons for the first time in two years and remembering how much fun that is. There may be graphics posts tomorrow.

And now I must depart because my chariot awaits to convey me to my pub. Hoorah!

It is a lovely break and exactly what I needed after the last few weeks. I'll then only have a month at work before I'm off for the whole of Christmas/New Year, which is also lovely.

Having the chance to sit and write for long stretches and get really absorbed is probably the best bit. The novel is flowing so well and having good chunks of time to work on it helps more than I'd realised. I don't have to be always thinking about what else I should be flying off to do or how late it's getting. Yay!
