Sep. 13th, 2007 12:19 pmDear Body,
Now this is just not good enough. It's been four days since I did the washing - why are you still hurting? Particularly you, Spinal Column, because I know damn well that I haven't done anything to upset you apart from the washing and you actually were starting to hurt less yesterday.
And Knee, what's with the entirely new pain type? Weren't you happy with the usual achey yucky pain?
No Love,
Me
My body is rebelling. Grrrr.
I'm also a leetle bit tired because I went out last night with The Girls and our pub has been changed! It's one of those really old pubs that looks nice and comfy and old, with empty pretty wine bottles on all the window sills and shelves and old chairs and tables that have been gathered over the years from all sorts of places. No kidding, at some stage the local church must have been getting rid of things so there are even a couple of church pews. The tables are old and scratched and worn smooth from hands and polishing.
It's under "new management". Grrr. They seem to be going for the modern wine-bar/gourmet crowd so they have redecorated inside to make it bright and light. Including covering over the ancient floor boards with fake grey stone veneer stuff. Half the furniture is gone replaced with worringly new tables and chairs, the rest has been recovered so it all matches. It matches! That's just wrong.
They are also encouraging at table service. It's always been a place where you order at the bar with a table number, now they're trying to encourage everyone to stay at the table. The only problem is that they're so bloody slow. My mate needed something to eat and it took ages to get her a bowl of chips. When we finally managed to attract someone's attention to get the bill, they didn't come back to our table to let us pay the bill for three quarters of an hour. We eventually gave up and make them let us pay at the bar.
I overheard at least one customer complain about the shoddy service and saying that "it was better the old way" so hopefully they'll be taking notice. But for now, they've rather spoiled the pub that I've been going to for ten years. Grrr.
Today it was foggy. And half the people on the motorway didn't have lights on. Yay. Oddly enough, I passed a couple of crashes on the motorway. Can't imagine how those happened...
I think that I'm going to get some lunch and forget about work for a few minutes. At least it's nearly Friday!
