Oh, work. I guess I have to
Jun. 4th, 2012 07:06 pmFirst day back at work. It's going about as well as can be expected, and so:
1) My new shoes have developed an irritating squeak in one heel
2) My new hours have not started and may be some time in getting approved
3) My project partner is sick and cannot catch me up with the events of the last two weeks
4) My inbox took two hours to slaughter
5) My vacation quota for the new year (starting at the beginning of this month) is wildly incorrect due to a system error and the IT guys are "working on it" to get me my vacation quota back.
I am vaguely regretting my choice to take the migraine meds last night and sleep off the migraine at midnight rather than waiting and pulling a sickie today with a major migraine.
But still, I have jubilee fairy cakes to hand out and so far everyone is rather impressed by them. That's a help :-D
Tonight I am writing. My online writing group is 'meeting' and I intend to use our writing wars to get 1,000 words done on either Sum of Parts or the unnamed Avengers thing.
I am increasingly amused by a discussion on a forum that I watch about the relative height of the Avengers cast. So much speculation. So much discussion of shoe lifts. Heh :-D Thing I learned today: 5'9" height on a male actor's CV is code for short-arse.
And Scarlett Johansson is adorably tiny.
I see we're still overwhelming AO3. Poor servers, they had no idea what was coming for them. I did get to see the stats page today, which is rather interesting. I've only got a small amount of my stuff up there (admittedly several of the longer things) and I've got over 250k words. Huh. Kind of weird to think that I've probably written three times that over the last ten years. That's a lot of writing. I really need to find a weekend (or three) at some stage and get everything onto AO3.
Apparently I'm still distracting myself from work crap via the medium of fandom. It's a good response, I think :-)
