Sel goes to a bookshop
Oct. 27th, 2007 07:13 pmToday Mum and I decided to talk our longest walk yet. We're trying to go out for long walks at the weekends to improve our fitness, but this is the furthest we've ventured.
Of course, the fact that we walked to the second hand bookshop two miles away also meant that we had the reward of the bookshop at the end. Motivation is an amazing thing. Except we then had to walk home with our new treasures. Heh. But at least we had a good walk and bookshop fun.
Mum's ordered Pilates for Dummies on DVD. The physio that I saw on Wednesday officially banned me from yoga of any form except for pilates because she doesn't want me stretching and becoming more flexible. I bow to my PT's instructions and commend her on her advice to find something that I'll enjoy doing by way of exercise. Which means that I don't have to find a gym if I really don't like gyms. Yay for common sense. Although Mum and I still haven't found a pilates class that doesn't happen on a week day morning. Hence the DVD.
Of course, she also sniffed mightily at the exercises my previous PT gave me and instructed me in a whole new, different set of exercises. Apparently the old ones were wrong and far too focused on brute strength rather than control. Whatever. She also sniffed at the idea of walking on weekends. Obviously she also believes that when I say "walking" I mean "strolling leisurely for perhaps half a mile" rather than "marching at a fair clip for at least two, maybe three or four, miles". Why do all PTs and doctors immediately assume that?
Tonight I shall relax and knit while watching bad TV because that is what a Saturday night now usually means for me. Heh. And tomorrow I shall go for another walk and hopefully do lots of writing. Yay for weekends!
