Missing assignment
Aug. 12th, 2007 05:26 pmToday was a good day, until I got home from lunch with friends to find a message from my OU tutor.
My assignment apparently went AWOL for a few days because I addressed it incorrectly. Damn. But it's now turned up!
Except that the tape I recorded with my assignment on it is blank. Grrrr. I'd recorded it and re-recorded it so many times that night that I honestly can't remember whether I checked the tape before I sent it. I remember listening to it on the practise cassette and thinking "Not perfect, but it will have to do" and then transferring it to the proper TMA cassette. I just can't remember checking the proper cassette so it's entirely possible that something went wrong and I didn't notice. Apparently the tape has a long hiss sound as though it was recording and I didn't say anything, then a click and blankness. So I mucked up the transfer.
Damn.
My tutor is being lovely and letting me send another copy tomorrow. I've just got to resurrect the notes and try to remember what the hell I was doing. I've listened to the practise tape just now and I think that I'll give it another recording attempt before giving up and sending her a copy of one of the practises. They can't be worse than what I originally sent her! In fact, all the practise attempts sound so bad that I can't work out which one I thought was good enough to send. I don't think that I'll ever be a good linguist.
Sometimes, I feel quite disgusted with myself.
