Grrrr car insurance

I got a lovely quote for my car insurance, £100 less than the quote from my current insurer (and that insurer was trying to put a 9% charge on top of that huge quote for using my credit card - WTF?), so I have taken it and paid for it.
Now comes the hard part. Getting my current insurers not to renew the policy.
Take a wild stab at how long I've just spend on hold, only to be told that the cancellation department packed up and went home ages ago?
If you guessed at 45 minutes then you'd be right!
Grrrrr.
It's not just my imagination that they make it infinitely harder to cancel a policy than to get it in the first place, right? And then screw you for the renewal cost?
Bleh.
Better start with the being on hold thing earlier tomorrow. Yay.
