Valentine scrooge and Life on Mars
Feb. 14th, 2007 09:59 amLJ, why are you pink? Why have you joined in the crass commecial exercise of Valentine's Day in such a pink way? V-Day is really only an excuse for Hallmark to sell lots of vomit inducing cards and remind every single girl how evil it is to be single, as if our mothers weren't already doing a perfectly good job throughout the rest of the year.
And why is it so pink?!
I don't think that I'm joining in the festive thing here *grumbles*
My data warehouse connection is blindingly slow, my Interent connection isn't much better and it's all pink!
OTOH, Life on Mars made me happy last night (possible spoilers ahead).
I still can't decide whether Sam is mad, in a coma or time travelling. On the coma side, there's all the hospital bed stuff. But that could also be madness. On the time travelling side, he possibly changed the future of Marc Warren's villain that I can't remember the name of and Eve. Except I'm not sure.
And then there's that phone call.
Fantastic stuff. Definitely have to hit the LoM panel at Redemption :-)
I'm going to find herbal tea and chocolate and try to ignore all the rampant pinkness.
But why is it all pink?

Date: 2007-02-14 03:26 pm (UTC)I worked out where Eve came from - she played the tree lady in the second episode of Doctor Who (S1) and also a detective in Torchwood. I seem to recall that she's played another DW role but I can't for the life of me think what it was.
Terry on a camel!! Woo!

Date: 2007-02-15 11:45 am (UTC)I think they're working the usual trick of giving us hints that it could be a coma and it could be time travel. There's equal evidence that it could be either or some bizarre combination of both.
The phone call sounded to me like Sam might be undercover in the department for some reason, but that changes things a lot. It could be the equivelant of last season's mystery about his father which means that it might be his way home.
Or not.
Wanna join me in the LoM panel at Redemption? :-)
Re: Now I've seen the first episode...
Date: 2007-02-15 12:06 pm (UTC)I don't think so. But what I meant was they spent the first series implying he was, so I thought they were going to imply something else in series 2, yet it looked at first like they weren't.
The implication can be that he changed history by his actions in 1973
But did he though? Only when he gets home can he find out what happened to Tony Crane, otherwise for all we know he could be imagining that he has changed history.
Wanna join me in the LoM panel at Redemption? :-)
That's the plan.
Re: Now I've seen the first episode...
Date: 2007-02-15 12:28 pm (UTC)I think they're going to confuse us with mixed messages that could mean either :-)
Only when he gets home can he find out what happened to Tony Crane, otherwise for all we know he could be imagining that he has changed history.
That's why I said it's the implication - if we take everything that Sam said as fact then he changed history. It's only Sam's word that Tony Crane did the things he did. It's also only from the voice overs and TV images that we know Tony was a psychiatric patient. We can imply that Sam might have changed history but we can't know that and it works on the assumption that he's remembering everything correctly and the voices we hear are telling the truth.
Lovely and confusing :-)
That's the plan.
Cool :-)
