Dear World,
I am sick and have an evil lurgy. You are evil, World, evil.
Have been sick since Tuesday afternoon. I'm venturing onto the computer for a short while right now, but will probably retreat to my chair by the radiator soon. Bleh.
Saw the doctor yesterday and she muttered something about a virally laryngitisy type of thing that's been going around. I should feel better in a day or two. I currently have absolutely no voice. If I push really hard, I can make a sort of squeaky noise on some word accents, but that makes my throat hurt even more so I'm not doing that. It makes talking on the telephone rather awkward.
Obviously, I am not at work. Even if I could make noises, I'm currently having coughing fits that make me rather dangerous to drive. And I'm feeling generally very icky. I felt less icky yesterday so I'm not sure why I feel more icky today.
A diet of soup and ice-cream is getting rather wearing. However, I ventured into soft scrambled eggs territory this morning and I may try yoghurts this afternoon.
At first I thought this was the cold that my sister brought home with her at the weekend. Except this thing shows no sign of developing into a cold (apparently Sis felt rather ill for a couple of days before the cold developed into a bunged up type cold so I thought that was what I had) and she didn't get an incredibly sore throat with associated voice loss. So it's possible that I had the bad timing to pick up something totally different. Go me!
Sometimes, the world sucks mightily.

Date: 2006-11-03 12:30 pm (UTC)To be honest, I find it much easier to deal with being sick when it's cold because at least I can bundle up in blankets and stuff. And when I get feverish, the ambient temperature in my bedroom feels pretty good :-) Being sick when it's hot is just miserable to me.
This may be why I'm about to try taking a walk down the road in the nice cold fresh air. Indoors is feeling stuffy and claustrophobic right now. Thankfully, there's a nice bench that I can rest on if I get tired on the way :-)

Date: 2006-11-08 12:41 pm (UTC)And it's a good thing too because I'm still sick. Bleh. Went into work on Monday and got sent home, so it's been pretty icky.
I'm looking at this as possibly getting my Birthday Lurgy over with before the actual birthday, thus improving my odds of getting to eat my cake and enjoy the day :-)
