Monday's are always bad. This Monday is very, very bad because my big report got jammed and refused to return data, necessitating a re-run that I am less than pleased about. This wasn't a good time for you to call, but I'm a polite girl and allowed you to attempt to fix the problems I'm having with links in a spreadsheet.
However, when you have taken control of my PC and I have politely told you that the reason the screen is white is because you've clicked into a different spreadsheet that is currently re-running my big report, the correct response is not to attempt to close that spreadsheet. It may be locked out from your prying eyes, but that actually isn't always a bad thing.
You will therefore have to excuse my panicked screaching in your ear as you press the "Close" menu for the locked spreadsheet.
I did then politely tell you where the spreadsheet is that needs fixing. The correct response would be to go to that spreadsheet rather than continue the attempt to close the good spreadsheet.
When you then say "would you like me to release control of the mouse?", my response of "yes please" should mean that you don't continue swinging my cursor around, entirely preventing me from navigating to the broken spreadsheet that you're supposed to be fixing.
As a last point, it's good that you attempted all the things that I've tried and that the chappie who first called me tried. However, I sort of expected you to do something else. I'm not sure that the situation will have changed when you call back in an hour or so because it's been broken for several weeks now. And I may not answer your phone call after the chaos you've already caused.

I sense that I'm going to have a really, really bad day. And that I've already terrifed my colleagues with the panicked shouting. I have a cup of camomile tea that will hopefully de-stress me and get rid of the stonking headache. Looks like my plan to get out early and revise French has gone down the pan...

Very inclined to eat Chinese food though :-)) Must try not to give into temptation tonight...
