Weekendy stuff
Jul. 31st, 2006 09:07 amSo far, touch wood, the day doesn't seem to be going too badly wrong. The
data warehouse is running very slowly, but I've already got two reports out
almost within the deadline and I'm not feeling as stressed as I often am at
this stage on a Monday.
Weekend was tiring, but good. Spent Saturday running around madly, getting
things sorted out for my holiday (less than a week to go!) and getting my
hair done. I'm now back to being a red-head again :-)) With Mom away, Da and
I got lazy and ordered in that night and he introduced me to "Rebel Without
A Cause" after expressing shock that I'd never seen it before. Enjoyed it
muchly :-)
Little sis was home for the weekend, although we barely saw each other on
Saturday. On Sunday, she wanted to catch up on missed Doctor Who episodes so
I re-watched "School Reunion" and "Doomsday" with her. Which was really good
fun and inspired me to re-watch "Parting of the Ways" last night after Top
Gear. It was a rather Doctor Who-ish day and I ended up spending part of my
evening, um, reading Doctor Who porn.
I am a bad, bad person :-)
Although if anyone has any recs for good stuff, I'm a more than eager
recipient ;-))

Sadly, good DW fic seems to be few and far between, despite there being lots of it. The only good ones I know of I've already reviewed on your site.
Although, I just remembered another one I quite liked that I thought about reviewing - it's only short though, http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=1670 (people also seem to think it's Sarah/Harry, although I don't know why because I don't read it that way at all)

Date: 2006-07-31 08:11 pm (UTC)I howled with laughter at the sight of Richard Hammond's van with the matresses tied on the outside because the van was large enough to get them inside, I haven't had such a good laugh in ages.

Date: 2006-07-31 08:57 pm (UTC)Is it silly to be getting impatient for Torchwood to start now that I've lost my weekly Doctor Who new episode happiness?

Date: 2006-08-01 10:51 am (UTC)Nothing to do with the above, really. Just wanted to say that although London/Wycombe weather is forecast to be 26 degrees and sun on Saturday, you'll be pleased to hear that Sidmouth is down for 21 degrees and rain. So, the journey might be quite pleasant.
Why isn't it the weekend yet? Waah!

Date: 2006-08-01 11:55 am (UTC)It's entirely possible there is good stuff, it just seems to be finding it that's difficult. It probably doesn't help that most of the fandom predates the internet.
I see LJ's comment notifications are working well because I didn't get this.
There was a good one I read on sarahjane_fic this morning at http://doyle-sb4.livejournal.com/426615.html

I'm not impatient but I have 3 Peter Davison stories to go and quite a few Jon Pertwees, then I have to decide which Doctor to work on next. So I've got a bit of a DW overload going on, so I can wait quite happily :)

Date: 2006-08-01 01:53 pm (UTC)I think that might be the core of the problem - the fandom pre-dates the Internet and all those really excellent authors moved onto profic before Internet archives sprung up. I'm sure that there's great stuff out there, but finding it seems to be the really big problem right now.

Ah, thank you! Have memoried for later.

I have to finish watching Robin of Sherwood before Amazon will cough up the DW goodies :-( But I do have that season 1 box-set to re-watch so...
Although he's occasionally irritating, Colin Baker is a good one to tackle next. And possibly t'other Baker if you haven't finished with him.

Date: 2006-08-01 02:28 pm (UTC)Ta. I've barely started Tom Baker (mostly just seen the ones with SJS in :)). But will do them next, then - can only cope with Tom Baker up to a point, so alternating them will probably help!
