Grrrarrgggh
Jul. 17th, 2006 08:56 amGoddamn piece of crap IT systems...
How is it possible for so much to go wrong every single bloody Monday?
A few minutes ago I thought that I was doing well, my reports had run
faster than expected and it all looked hopeful.
Then I checked the numbers and realised that several tables on the
data warehouse had failed to update on time so all my numbers were
wrong. So I've got to rerun the reports to pick up the correct
numbers.
It's like someone in IT is trying their best to think up new errors
each Monday. Just when I think that I've accounted for all the ways
they can stuff me up, they find something new!
And for a minute there I thought that I might actually get a lunch
break today *sigh* Looks like it's going to be another 7.30am to 5pm
straight through session again :-((

Date: 2006-07-17 08:50 am (UTC)Did I once say 'the scruples of a jelly bean' with regard to your present employers? ::snort:: Obviously the intelligence of one as well :-(
Small consolation, I know - but IT depts in most retail companies seem to be the same. At least, they were in the one that I used to work for (not the same one as yours). Give them the mental finger - or phone them up anc create hell - and for heaven's sake, do take a break at some point in the day. Slavery was outlawed by Wilberforce.

I'm used to IT depts being pretty awful, but this one does seem to be deliberately worse than any other company I've worked for. The company that I worked for before my degree, also retail, had what I thought were pretty shocking systems. Now those systems look positively wonderful.

I suspect my current employer has an exemption clause in their contracts on that one :-)
And my email has just locked up because I attempted to print to a different printer than normal, due to the usual printer being broken. Gah! And I can't reboot to sort it out because I've got a report running that won't complete for a long time yet and has already been running for over 2 and a half hours. My morning gets better with every new...situation.

'the silicon chip inside her head is switched to overload,
and nobody's gonna get reports today 'cos the data warehouse's screwed...'

Well, I guess I know what we'll be playing in the car in a couple of weeks' time.

Date: 2006-07-18 10:00 am (UTC)You may have to listen to the Carpenters for a while, though. Just warning. Doesn't feel like a holiday until I've listened to the Traffic Jam Music (family name for the thing - we always find traffic jams while listening to it).
Two and a half weeks! *bounce bounce*
