What have I acheived so far today?

I got up at a sensible, 7am-ish time because the important thing is not to just stop and let the pain take over. I have done my back and hip exercises and been down to the newsagent for a paper. I have endured two severe pain flares without screaming.

I have also found a very good Harry Potter/Doctor Who cross-over which has been reviewed and will be on the site after the next validation session. In addition I have emailed and chatted with several friends and talked to some folks at work to make sure that my projects can be run in by absence.

In all, I feel rather productive. My uncle is coming round at some stage today to have a chat with Da and I, which will be nice. In the meantime, I'm contemplating either writing or doing some French work. Although I may need to take another back break to deal with the pain flare that's currently trying to creep up on me.

I want to say something very fannish, but am fresh out of cool fannish thoughts.

But my new car has arrived and I waved goodbye to Baby last night. I hate to admit it, but the new car is rather lovely. She's a Vauxhall Corsa Elegance with EasyTronic transmission. She even has air con. And she's a rather gorgeous shade of blue. Pictures may follow soon, but what I really need is a name. She can't be Baby, because that would be daft. But I'm already liking this car so she needs a decent name. Ideas, fabulous f-list?

I've had a couple of thoughts re: the car naming, but they both sound silly, so I won't even share ;) Well done for managing the pain spikes, I know how horrific it can be. I slipped a disc once and the only way I could get out of bed was roll onto my stomach and slide off the end. Then another time I only pulled muscles, but I had a cough and every time I coughed I screamed. I really hope the consultant can get to the bottom of it and sort it out for you. *gentlehugs*

*g* Every time I sneeze or cough when I'm lying down, it pulls something - the cold I had a couple of weeks ago was miserable! Not planning on having another one of those until this has settled down :-)

Pain management is about the only way I can handle it at the moment. I'm just hoping that I'm managing it the right way. The idea that I could be doing things that will make full recovery more difficult worries me a lot, which is why I'm trying to stay as active as I can and why it's been such a hard decision to take a few days off work. I know that with back problems, just stopping everything and letting it dominate everything makes the odds of recovery that little bit worse.

And I still have no name for the car :-( She's cute and classy so I'm trying to think of something appropriate, but nothing is working.

Although she has a D in her license plate, so I've been half considering Dixie. And I did enjoy the stand that the Dixie Chicks took against the war, despite the general disapproval for their actions from some sections of Nashville.

A couple of RL friends have already suggested those :-) Billie is going into the box, but the car is blue and Rose may give the wrong impression so...

*g* Yeah, I like those. What I'll probably do is construct a list, take some photos of the car and try putting names next to her until I work out which name works best. So the more names I have to try, the better my odds are of finding the right one.
